WWE Superstar, for now, CM Punk was originally scheduled to appear at the Wizard World Louisville Comic Con event on Saturday, March 29. However, Punk will not be attending the event, as Wizard World announced that Randy Orton will instead be making an appearance at the event. For now, Orton will be doing photo ops and autograph signings but not a Question & Answer session, which Punk usually does at the events.
Being pulled from the appearance may very well be a sign that WWE and Punk are not close on reaching an agreement to work WrestleMania XXX, which WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly wants. Punk allegedly walked out on WWE prior to the beginning of the post-Royal Rumble edition of “Monday Night Raw,” leaving WWE in a peculiar position for WrestleMania season.
Next week’s edition of “Monday Night Raw” should be the tell-all sign regarding Punk’s fate for WWE down the road. The March 3 edition of the program will be taking place from Punk’s hometown in Chicago, Ill. Many wrestling fans have speculated that if Punk were to reappear in WWE for WrestleMania season, it would have to be on this date in his hometown.
Below are excerpts from Wizard World’s announcement of Orton’s appearance:
WWE® Superstar Randy Orton® makes a triumphant return to Wizard World when he appears at the inaugural Louisville Comic Con on Saturday, March 29, at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Orton will meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photo-ops in a three-hour appearance from 1-4 p.m.
“I greatly enjoyed my first Wizard World show last year, and I can’t wait to meet a whole new set of fans in Louisville, a real hotbed for wrestling,” said Orton.
