During Daniel Bryan’s retirement speech on last night’s Monday Night Raw, he mentioned that “his brain isn’t as okay as he thought it was” and that was the determining factor that led to his acceptance that his wrestling career was over.

According to PWInsider.com, the tests that he was referring to happened on the Thursday before the “Royal Rumble”.

The tests took place in New York City, and the results were known by very few people in WWE and only a couple key higher ups in the company knew about the news before yesterday when Bryan announced his decision on Twitter and following that with the speech last night.

There is a lot of concern and speculation about the long-term health of Daniel Bryan. He mentioned that he has a family to think about, and he expressed the desire to have children sooner rather than later, so it seems that Bryan is going to be unable to wrestle for other promotions even when his deal with WWE expires.

It’s likely that WWE will continue to use Daniel Bryan as an ambassador and in a non-wrestling role, but it’s going to be very interesting to see how his health is affected as he transitions into life as a former wrestler.
