Unfortunately, some wrestling news isn’t always good news. Yesterday, Brian Knighton, who was known to the wrestling world as former ECW Original Axl Rotten, passed away.

His cause of death is undetermined as of now, but the proper authorities found him deceased in a motel room in Baltimore, Maryland. Knighton was only forty-four years old.

WWE.com acknowledged Brian Knighton’s death with the following statement:

WWE is saddened to learn of reports that Brian Knighton, best known for competing in ECW as Axl Rotten from 1993 to 1999, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Knighton’s family, friends and fans.
